Whenever I give a presentation about Policy-Based Management I always mention that www.mssqltips.com has a great library of policies to import. To this point I never provided a top ten list of recommended policies. In no particular order are ten policies I highly recommend.
- Enable Data File Growth for all the Databases Using Policy Based Management
- Enable SQL Server Transaction Log File Growth for All Databases Using Policy Based Management
- Find SQL Server Tables Without Clustered Indexes
- Monitor SQL Server Agent Jobs with Policy Based Management
- Monitor Your SQL Server Virtual Log Files with Policy Based Management
- Validate SQL Server Backups Exist with Policy Based Management
- Enforce SQL Server Database Naming Conventions Using Policy Based Management
- Find unused SQL Server indexes with Policy-Based Management
- Using SQL Server Policy Management to Enforce Database Settings in Development
- Identify SQL Server Databases Not in Full Recovery Model Using Policy Based Management
Wow, great list. My knowledge of PBM is next to nil, but I’m eager to change that!
Claire,
Thanks for the feedback. I hope to have a mini-series of posts in the future that go from zero to PBM.
Regards,
John
